Football Markets Explained: Over/Under, Both Teams to Score, Correct Score

Football markets go beyond who wins. Over/Under bets on the total number of goals, Both Teams to Score asks whether each side scores at least once, and Correct Score asks for the exact final score. Under CricPlus rules, most of these settle on regular time plus stoppage time, and each has its own rule for abandoned matches.

Key facts: football markets on CricPlus (as of October 2026)

  • Under/Over Goals: void if a match starts but is not completed, unless the outcome is already determined.
  • Both Teams to Score: own goals count for the team credited with the goal; void if abandoned unless already determined.
  • Correct Score: not partly settled during the match; settled in full at full time.
  • Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included in Correct Score, First Half Under/Over or Penalty Taken.
  • Draw No Bet: bets are void if the match ends in a draw.

What is a football market?

A market is a single question about a match with a set of possible answers. Match Odds (home / draw / away) is the best known, and it's covered in our guide on how to read football odds and back or lay a price. Other markets let you focus on goals, halves or the exact score instead of the winner.

Every market on CricPlus has its own settlement rule. Knowing that rule before you bet matters as much as the price: it decides what happens if the match is abandoned, goes to extra time, or a decision is overturned. The summaries below follow the football sections of the official rules. The full CricPlus rules page is the final reference if anything here differs.

How do Over/Under goals markets work?

An Over/Under market sets a goal line, such as 2.5, and asks whether the total goals in the match will be over or under it. Lines usually end in .5, so there is always a clear answer: with a 2.5 line, three or more goals is Over and two or fewer is Under.

Under CricPlus rules, if a match starts but is not completed, all Under/Over Goals bets are void, unless the specific market outcome is already determined. In practice:

  • If a match is abandoned at 3–1, Over 2.5 has already happened, since four goals can't be undone by stopping play. That market can be settled.
  • If a match is abandoned at 1–0, Over 2.5 and Under 2.5 are both still open. Those bets are void.

First Half Under/Over Goals works the same way but counts only goals in the first half. The rules state that bets apply according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time, and that extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included.

How does Both Teams to Score work?

Both Teams to Score (often shortened to BTTS) has two answers:

  • Yes: both teams score at least one goal.
  • No: at least one team fails to score.

Under CricPlus rules, own goals count towards the team credited with the goal. So if a defender from the away team puts the ball into his own net, that goal counts for the home team.

If a game is abandoned, BTTS bets are void unless the outcome is already determined. If both teams have already scored when play stops, "Yes" has happened and can be settled. If the score is 1–0, the outcome is still open and the bets are void.

How is the Correct Score market settled?

Correct Score asks you to pick the exact final score, such as 2–1 or 0–0. Because there are many possible scores, prices are usually much longer than in Match Odds, and most selections lose.

Under CricPlus rules, Correct Score will not be partially settled during the fixture and is fully settled at full time. Bets apply to full time according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included. A cup tie that is 1–1 after regular time settles as 1–1 for this market, whatever happens afterwards.

What other football markets will I see?

The CricPlus football rules also cover these markets:

Market What it asks How it settles under CricPlus rules
Draw No Bet Which team will win If the match is a draw, all bets are void. If the game is abandoned, bets are void.
1st Period Winner Who leads at half-time Bets are void if the match is abandoned before half-time.
Penalty Taken? Will a penalty be awarded and taken Applies to full time plus stoppage time; extra time and shoot-outs excluded.
First Half Under/Over Goals in the first half Stoppage time counts; extra time and shoot-outs excluded.
Under/Over Goals Total goals against a line Void if not completed, unless the outcome is already determined.
Both Teams to Score Does each team score Own goals count for the credited team; void if abandoned unless determined.
Correct Score The exact score Settled in full at full time; no partial settlement.

For tournament-long markets, the rules spell out what counts. Tournament total goals include goals in 90 minutes and extra time, but not goals in penalty shoot-outs. Tournament corners count only corners taken in 90 minutes. Penalties converted or missed count in 90 minutes, extra time and shoot-outs, but a disallowed penalty that has to be retaken does not count.

What happens if a market is suspended and doesn't come back?

Live markets are suspended at key moments, and occasionally a market stays closed. The CricPlus rules say that if a technical error or unforeseen event suspends the provider's side of a market (such as Match Odds or Over/Under) and the market does not resume, it is settled on the current result at the time of suspension, and all bets placed before the suspension remain valid.

Two other rules are worth knowing:

  • VAR decisions in Match Odds. If a goal is cancelled by VAR, bets matched between the goal and the end of the review are voided. If a red card is cancelled, bets matched after the review starts are voided.
  • Live data can lag. Scores, timers, video and animations come from third-party feeds and may be delayed or inaccurate. Other customers may see faster data. If you rely on it to bet, you do so at your own risk.

The rules also state that the company can suspend or void bets it finds illegitimate, such as those placed using VPNs, bots or multiple entries from the same IP address, and that only winning bets are voided in those cases.

How should I choose between football markets?

Pick the market whose question you understand best, then read its rule before you stake anything. A few practical points:

  1. Check what time period counts. Most markets here exclude extra time and shoot-outs, but tournament markets may include extra time.
  2. Think about abandonment. Over/Under and BTTS can still settle if the result is already decided. Draw No Bet and 1st Period Winner are voided in the cases listed above.
  3. Compare the implied probability. Divide 1 by the decimal price. Long Correct Score prices reflect how unlikely each exact score is.
  4. Set a limit first. More markets mean more ways to spend. Decide your budget before kick-off.

No market or combination is a shortcut to profit. Before you sign in, confirm the address against the list of official CricPlus domains. If a settlement looks wrong, contact official CricPlus Support on WhatsApp. The rules ask for queries about results or rates within 7 days of the event.

Frequently asked questions

Does Over/Under 2.5 include extra time?

For First Half Under/Over, the rules state that extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included. For full-match Under/Over Goals, check the market name and the full rules. Tournament total goals markets do count goals in extra time, but never goals in penalty shoot-outs.

Do own goals count in Both Teams to Score?

Yes. Under CricPlus rules, an own goal counts towards the team credited with the goal. If the away team's defender scores into his own net, the goal counts for the home team.

What happens to Correct Score if the match goes to penalties?

Correct Score is settled at full time, including stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are not included, so the score at the end of regular time decides the bet.

What happens to my Over/Under bet if the match is abandoned?

Under CricPlus rules, the bets are void unless the outcome is already determined. If enough goals have already been scored for Over to win, the market can be settled; otherwise the bets are voided.

What does Draw No Bet mean?

You pick a team to win. If the match ends in a draw, all bets are void, so your stake is not lost to the draw. If the game is abandoned, bets are also void.
